Three Sure Fire Ways to Fail at Your Goals
1. Not Being Clear About Who You Are. The first way to fail at your goals is not to be clear about who you are and what you stand for. Faith plays an important role as well. When sailors were caught at sea in shark infested waters after their ship sunk during the Second World War they cried out and prayed to be protected and saved by the Creator. Egos fell by the wayside. Although life is always accompanied by death, the death aspect was in their case possibly eminent. Only you can answer this one for yourself. Seek the answer. Prisoners of war also had a greater survival rate if they were clear about their purpose in life.

2. Not Having Clear Long-Term Life and Career Goals. Another sure fire way to fail at achieving goals is not to have clear long-term goals. As sure as I am writing this, obstacles will come along. If we are clear about our long-term goals in life and career, we have the proper mindset to overcome the obstacles. Further, the establishment of short-term goals will be easier, since the short-term goals need to be in sync with the long-term, strategic life and career goals.

3. Not Knowing What the Three “Big Picture” Goals For a Given Year Are. Ok. So you’ve got your long-term goals established. The year progresses and you then find yourself making your daily, weekly and monthly tasking. The Health Colonel stops by and asks you about 3 months into the year, “Just What Are Your Three Big Picture Goals you are working on?" His next question is, “Are your daily, weekly and monthly tasks in sync with your “Big Picture” goals? Well, if you don’t know – or you lost focus of – what your “Three Big Picture Goals” are for the year, how can you have your short-term goals and tasks be in sync with the long- term? Get clarity about this if you want to stay in shape and eat healty!
